dimensions quoted are mattress sizes: overall frame size is + 2" width and + 5" length
(ie 4`6``*6`3`` overall size = 4`8``*6`8``)
beds and mattresses can be made to any size - sometimes for the same price!
clearance under siderail is normally 8"(200mm). most beds can be made with increased height,
up to 15"(300mm) for all and 24"(600mm) for some. for non-standard height, width or length please e-mail with particulars.
nearly all the beds shown are in pine: we`re waiting to get some new pics of beech frames.
slats on all frames are pine. double beds have centre supports. colour stains +10% on frame price

If you live in Naples you can hang your bedding out to air on your balcony in the Mediterranean sun. However if you live in Clapham this is not a dependable course of action. So we announce -ta da!
The Duvet Rail
As you can see the tail end of this bed is high enough that you can drape your duvet over it allowing it to air nicely. So simple even a teenager can do it!
The bed pictured is in beech. Head end is as per type d/s. All other headboard types will also fit.
We were surprised to find that this simple modification has not previously been offered for sale (according to google anyway).

All wool used is Organic and UK origin
All double mattresses have side handles. If you would like side handles on a single, please let us know.
Whitecroft and Pembroke have a layer of manmade fibre underneath the Organic wool: this gives them a slightly
springier feel than the Dunbar or Monmouth.
Tenby: spring interior, manmade fibre fillings, cotton stripe cover, firm or extra firm spring
Whitecroft: spring interior,organic wool fillings,plain cotton cover, no fire retardents, firm or extra firm spring
Dunbar: as per Whitecroft but with 100% organic wool padding (2500GSM per side). Except for the zip this mattress is fully biodegradeable.
Brecon: pocket spring, manmade fibre fillings,cotton stripe cover, standard or firm spring
Pembroke: pocket spring,organic wool fillings,plain cotton cover,no fire retardents, standard or firm spring
Monmouth: as Pembroke but with only Organic wool (2500 GSM per side) padding. For the same spring unit the Monmouth
will feel a little firmer than the Pembroke
Wrexham: Natural latex foam core (180mm), organic wool surround and plain cotton cover, no added fire retardent.
Cambria: Latex and coir fibre core (180mm) organic wool surround and plain cotton cover, no added fire retardent.

Regarding Wrexham and Cambria: matress pads are either single (up to 3`) or double 4`6`` and bigger.
So a 3`6`` or a 4`0`` is same price as a 4`6``. Sorry...
Also Latex prices (like many raw materials) have rocketed, more than doubling in last 3 years.

on replacing your mattress...
Somewhat counter-intuitively a new mattress of the same type may feel softer
than the old one: on the old one the springs may be still firm but the padding
will have packed down hard over the years. The new one with fresh padding can
by contrast feel softer. This usually takes a few days to get used to
(and is especially true of Extra Firm mattresses).

if you are unable to help with the delivery please let me know beforehand.
as a one man business I have to rely to some extent on the kindness of
strangers...
large mattresses may require extra help - especially if these are to go up more than one flight of stairs.
if it looks like extra help will be required and there are no strapping teenagers to hand, I will let you
know of any possible costs beforehand.
alphabeds delivers usually once a month to London and surrounds
delivery outside of these areas is possible: please email for details.
example price: for a double bed and mattress in london postcode area delivery will
be £28 if customer can help with mattress NB: since the
introduction of the ULEZ and congestion charge there may be some additional cost to
affected areas.
all alphabeds items are individually made to order - we do not keep stock as there are
too many variations possible.
assembly
of the 40,000+ beds made in the last 30 years or so about 90% have been successfully
assebled by the owners.if however you would like your bed to be assembled on delivery
then this is usually possible. please mention this when you make an order.

N.B. we cannot recycle MDF/chipboard frames, only wood
your local council may have a (cheaper) bulky removals service - this may go
to landfill: worth checking.
all alphabeds products are made individually to customer order/requirements.
once an order is agreed it may not be possible to cancel it so please be sure
that size, type etc are correct before going ahead. products will be replaced
(or refunds made) if they are faulty or not as described but we cannot guarantee
to replace any article unless some fault or obvious discrepancy obtains.
