Alphabeds Terms and Conditions of sale

These terms will not negate any of your legal rights.

Delivery dates given at point of sale are estimates only unless agreed in writing overleaf. Customers will be contacted prior to delivery for confirmation that proposed arrangement is suitable. No delivery will be made without verbal confirmation (unless specifically stated on your order form). Weekend Delivery means either Saturday or Sunday unless specified on your order form. Liability for delivery error is limited to delivery charge. Any times given will be subject to traffic conditions. Alphabeds reserves the right to charge for any delivery cancelled or postponed after confirmation.

Unless assembly has been requested, the drivers' responsibility is to deliver to the entrance of the premises. Drivers may deliver to other particular rooms at their discretion. If your delivery is undertaken by independent carrier rather than Alphabeds staff, the carrier driver may need assistance if the bed is a double or larger. Please ensure that passageways and stairwells are free from obstacles. It is the customer's responsibility to ensure that access is adequate for the item. Alphabeds does not guarantee to refund any costs if a bed is too large for its intended room or if access to its destination is impossible. Customers should advise Alphabeds if legal parking (for lorries) might be a problem. Tip: remove pictures and ornaments from stairwells before the delivery arrives.

Outside London deliveries and deliveries where special days have been selected by the customer may be undertaken by independent carrier. If the delivery includes a double mattress the driver will need assistance to unload.

Customers should check items for transit damage on delivery. Any damage not noted at the time may be deemed 'post delivery' and customer's responsibility.

Size
Size quoted is normally the mattress nominal size. Any special size requirements must be noted on your order form. Custom size frames are subject to variation of +/- 1%.

Assembly
All frames are supplied for customer assembly. Instructions and fixings are supplied. Alphabeds offers an assembly service, which must be booked at point of sale. It may also be possible to book an assembly when arranging the delivery date depending on delivery schedule. It is not possible for drivers to assemble beds without previous warning, as the delivery schedule must be adhered to. Assembly and old bed removal can be problematic outside the M25 and away from the M4 as these services are not possible with independent carrier delivery. Deliveries to these areas requiring said services may therefore be delayed until a suitable Alphabeds vehicle and economic load is available.

Payment on delivery must be by guaranteed cheque or by Credit Card to the Shop. Personal and business cheques must be given 10 days to clear.

Guarantee
Alphabeds will undertake to repair or replace any bed or part of a bed, which becomes unusable due to faulty workmanship or materials for a period of one year on site and for a further four years when returned to the factory. Furthermore, bed frames only are guaranteed against breakage for a total of fifteen years and parts returned will be replaced or repaired. Please note that this cover is for faults which render an item unusable and not merely deteriorations which may be caused by fair wear and tear and also over- and under-humidity. Features which are naturally occurring, such as knots or grain pattern and the effect of colours, stains or other applied finishes on these features cannot be considered as faults unless the order specifically states in writing the parameters to be used regarding appearance. It is imperative that siderail bolts are checked for tightness (see bed assembly instructions) as this is the most common cause of frame problems and these will not be covered by guarantee if customer maintenance is the cause.

Cancellation of orders
Alphabeds products are individually made to order for each customer. Once a contract is agreed, Alphabeds insists that it is carried through to completion unless the cancellation is agreeable to both parties. If cancelling an order is agreed you will be given a Cancellation Number. This will be your proof that cancellation has been agreed.

Replacement
Alphabeds may agree to replace a bed or mattress which is not faulty or incorrect in any way but this will only be done on the condition that the item is unused: in the case of a bed frame or other woodwork it shall not have been assembled or damaged in any way; in the case of a mattress it must not have been removed from its sealed plastic bag. Therefore be advised to check the obvious things before assembly and use: the size, the model type, the colour and the mattress type and size. It is advisable that you test the mattress again before unwrapping it, once opened you may not be able to swap it on grounds of it being too soft or too firm.

Any item which is replaced on customer choice rather than fault under guarantee will be subject to delivery and restocking charges.

Appearance
Wood, as a natural material, is by its nature unpredictable in its range of tones and colours and this in turn can influence the end colour of any stain applied to it. Colour samples shown at point of sale or sent to customers are not guarantees of an exact match but are subject to differences in the nature of the underlying timber, light levels, intensity and colour temperature. The amount of patterning occurring on hardwood beds is not completely predictable and any bed supplied as having maximum or minimum will have the maximum or minimum available at the time. Alphabeds will always make every effort to contact customers prior to delivery if we feel that the range of timber presently available is not suitable to the customers needs.

Please note that some finishes (most notably the coloured waxes) act in the same way as fingerprint powder: as they have extremely dark and fine pigments they will tend to gather in any surface roughness or fissures which not otherwise be apparent to the eye. These marks are therefore a concomitant effect of the chosen finish and not a fault in the timber. Be assured that any cracks, which lead to actual failure of the item, will be treated as faults and dealt with under the guarantee.

Storage
Charges may be levied on any items not delivered/collected within three months of notification of readiness for collection/delivery. Items not collected/delivered after six months may be sold to defray costs.
