Extending Sofa Bed- Most sofa beds are designed as sofas with the bed part very much a second-class citizen. For most people this is a good arrangement as the bed is only occasionally used. Mind you, everyone knows how long the 'occasional night' can be on an uncomfortable bed! The alphabeds sofa is more of a bed that effortlessly opens out to a 5' or 6' width. The slatted base simply slides out to accommodate the second mattress. This is an all-wood design with no folding metal frame nor indeed, any 'fiddly' bits at all!
